ABOUT BLUE MARLIN FISH (MAKAIRA NIGRICANS)

This solitary predator is found in the subtropical waters of the world's oceans. It can grow to over five meters in length and weigh 820 kilograms. Marlins are very fast and can swim 100 metres in about 4 seconds. It is a blue marlin that the fisherman battles in Ernest Hemingway´s classic novella The Old Man and the Sea.
